Over the years, together with our community, the Cancer Golf Tournament has raised $558,934 to help fight cancer. Last year, with your help, we donated $22,500 to the SMGH Foundation to purchase Laparoscopic Surgical equipment!  Our mandate is to continue to raise funds for cancer and this year proceeds will be donated again to Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation to help improve cancer care in our community – We are “Keeping it Local”.

Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in Canadian women - one in nine will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Occurrence of breast cancer in Southwestern Ontario women is higher than the provincial average. Advanced diagnostic technologies like digital mammography have resulted in huge improvements for patient diagnosis and treatment.  To enhance our local mammography service, SMGH must upgrade from conventional film screening to high quality digital mammographic imaging to help facilitate earlier diagnosis of breast cancer.  This will allow patients to begin treatment quicker and closer to home.  SMGH Foundation is grateful to be selected as the recipient of the 2013 Strathroy Caradoc Cancer Golf Tournament in order to help work towards our goal to purchase new digital mammography equipment.  Together, we will strengthen a vital healthcare resource for our local community.
